Early Start
- Arthur was born on March 2, 1988, with his father working as a delivery driver, but also playing in bands and drumming, and his mother as a fashion model and later became a sales and marketing professional.
- Arthur entered part-time voluntary foster care when he was 14 years old.
- When James Arthur was 15, he began writing and recording songs as an unsigned artist, both solo and as part of several bands, including Moonlight Drive, Cue the Drama, Save Arcade, and Emerald Skye.
Career Journey
- 2011: Arthur released a number of his own songs on SoundCloud and YouTube, as well as an album called Sins by the Sea.
- 2012: The EP Collection CD was released with nine tracks featuring R&B, soul, and hip hop influences. As part of his audition for The X Factor’s ninth series, he performed an acoustic version of Tulisa’s “Young.”
- 2013: “You’re Nobody ’til Somebody Loves You was announced via Twitter.
- 2014: Arthur collaborated with British record producer Rymez on “Kryptonite”.
- 2016: He launched the single called “The Truth” on iTunes in the United States.
- 2018: Alongside Anne-Marie, he performed in The Greatest Showman: Reimagined’s “Rewrite the Stars”.
- 2019: “Falling Like the Stars” was released by Arthur.
