His melodies are associated with sand, salt, sun, and surf throughout Australia’s interminable summers! James Reyne returns with the Songs Of Beaches nationwide tour after a few quiet years for us all. James is gearing up for an action-packed 75-minute set of all the tunes you know and loves this October and November, fresh off the seemingly never-ending Boy’s Light Up Anniversary tour and Red Hot Summer gigs.

‘Reckless,’ ‘The Boys Light Up,’ ‘Beautiful People,’ ‘Lakeside,’ ‘Daughters Of The Northern Coast,’ ‘Fall Of Rome,’ ‘Hammerhead,’ Motor’s Too Fast,’ and ‘Slave’ are just a few of the legendary songs written by James Reyne. The Songs Of Beaches tour is not to be missed for all these reasons and more.

James Michael Reyne Biography

Nugent, James Michael Reyne OAM (born 19 May 1957) is an Australian rock musician and singer-songwriter who has performed solo and with the Australian band Crawl until 1986. Reyne was born in the Nigerian city of Lagos. Rodney Michael Reyne, his father, was an English-born former Royal Marine who served as aide-de-camp to Sir Dallas Brooks, the Governor of Victoria. Greg Marsden was Reyne’s character in the 1983 TV miniseries Return to Eden. In the 1993 biopic of Tina Turner’s life, What’s Love Got to Do with It; he played her manager. Reyne had a special appearance in the telemovie The Postcard Bandit in 2005, featuring songs from Australian Crawl on the soundtrack. A drummer and TV presenter, David Reyne is Reyne’s older brother. Elisabeth, their younger sister, married Simon Hussey. They collaborated on Daryl Braithwaite’s album Higher Than Hope in 1991.

Hussey produced and engineered Reyne’s early recordings, and the two were bandmates with Braithwaite in Company of Strangers for the 1992 album of the same name and subsequent songs. Jaime-Robbie Reyne, the star of Neighbours, is the son of James Reyne. He has a daughter and resides on the Mornington Peninsula. It’s simple to see why James Reyne, both as a solo artist and with his previous band, the Australian Crawl, has a string of platinum albums. His songwriting and composing appear to be effortless while yet being exceptionally well-crafted. He has a folk and pop sensibility akin to Neil Young’s, and he employs several support vocalists to augment his voice. He still records with keen humor and new sound almost 30 years after he began composing and performing with Australian Crawl.
