- Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown was cared for and raised by his single mother who worked on tanks in the United States Army in Inglewood, California.
- As “Dem Outta St8 Boyz”, he and his brother Slim Jxmmi began making music in high school.

- 2017: Swae Lee was featured on French Montana’s “Unforgettable” which made it to the Billboard Hot 100 third highest spot, marking his first time as a solo artist to reach the top ten.
- 2018: Swae Lee was featured on Jhené Aiko’s track “Sativa”, “Close to Me” by Ellie Goulding and Diplo and on Post Malone’s song “Sunflower” for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
- 2019: Swae Lee released “Won’t Be Late” launched Drake and produced by Tekno and Mike Will Made It.
- 2021: He collaborated with Alicia Keys on the single “Lala (Unlocked)” at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards.
