Early Start
- Joy graduated from St Kevin’s College, Toorak, in 2005 as school captain.
- A bachelor’s degree in arts and a bachelor’s degree in law were later obtained by Joy at Monash University.
- He played Australian rules football before beginning his music career.
- His best first-year player award in 2008 came from playing for the Coburg Football Club, then called the Coburg Tigers, in the Victorian Football League (VFL).
Career Journey
- 2013: His debut single “From Afar” came out to the public.
- 2014: His debut album, Dream Your Life Away was released in September of this year.
- 2015: “Georgia” was released as a single (February). He performed “Riptide” in a duet featuring Quentin Alexander in May of this year.
- 2017: Two singles from his second studio album were “Lay It All on Me”, which was nominated for Song of the Year at the ARIA Music Awards (2018), and “Like Gold” in November, which made it to the number 14 spot on the Australian charts and ARIA’s certified Gold(2019).
- 2018: While Joy was opening for the 1989 World Tour, he launched “We’re Going Home”. “Saturday Sun” was released as the fourth single, which was inspired by the beaches along the Pacific Coast Highway in Los Angeles.
