Location of Darling Harbour
The Darling Harbour is situated just adjacent to Sydney’s city centre in New South Wales, Australia. The place got its name after New South Wales’ Governor, Lieutenant-General Ralph Darling, who was the governor for the tenure of six years; from 1825 to 1831.
Things To Do
Darling Harbour is Sydney’s major tourist attraction. There are so many things to do at the harbour. The best thing that you can do here is bowling at Kingpin Bowling Alley. The bowling alley is in the Harbourside Shopping Centre and is the only alley in the harbour. The Harbourside Shopping Centre also houses M9 Laser Skirmish and retail Jet flight simulator.
Another amazing place to visit at Darling Harbour is the Chinese Garden of Friendship. Quite contrary to the harbour, this place is tranquil. The lakes and waterfalls were so mesmerizing. There were many exotic plants in the garden. I was taken aback by the beauty of the garden.
There are infinite options to fill our empty stomachs at Darling Harbour. This place is full of amazing fine dining spots. There is n number of hotels, bars and pubs at the harbour, especially at the Cockle Bay Warf which is known for its dining platforms. Do visit the Margaritaville and relished the delicious, finger-licking seafood and the Cohiba for some cocktails. The resident DJs there, play amazing music. You can dance like maniacs until dusk.
There are many other things that you can experience at Darling Harbour. There is SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and WILDLIFE Sydney Zoo, where you can visit with your children. The Darling Quarter Playground will keep the little kids busy.
The largest cinema screen in the world, IMAX is also present here. The experience of watching the big screen is totally out of the world. Lindt Chocolate Café and Madame Tussauds, at the Darling Harbour are also a must visit. You can also have a good time at the harbour cruises. Firework display is another highlight of Darling Harbour. Many outdoor activities, exhibitions and festivals happen at the harbour throughout the year.
When you are at the Darling Harbour, no single moment is dull. There were many things that I couldn’t experience this time. I went back with the promise of coming back again.
