Born: October 18, 1927
An immensely talented actor, George C. Scott appeared on the big screen, on stage, and on television. He was born on October 18, 1927, in Wise, Virginia. As a child, his mother died, and his father raised him. In 1945, he joined the United States Marine Corps, no doubt an inspiration for portraying General George S. Patton decades later. After serving in the Marines, Scott enrolled in journalism classes at the University of Missouri, but his acting bug bit him while performing in a play. “It clicked, just like tumblers in a safe.”
