In December 2022, Ross Wilson, one of Australia’s most celebrated, acclaimed, and award-winning musicians, will be back in Bannockburn! Ross Wilson and The Peaceniks perform a scorching collection of favorites from his illustrious career as a singer, composer, and producer, spanning five decades. Ross “Mr. Eagle Rock” Wilson, who has been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame thrice, is still living the Wicked Life in Oz.
The producer of Skyhooks and Jo Jo Zep has never stopped marching forward, like The Fugitive Kind, through the Summer of 81 and into the 21st century, despite his unwavering belief that “ego” is not a dirty word. He will rise from his bed of nails when the time is appropriate to return, adding a touch of paradise to your cool world and soothing your emotional state by engaging in primitive love rituals in your first park. I Come In Peace by Wilson became Joe Cocker’s final number-one hit. So, having nothing to lose, come, the boy said, to a performance by Ross Wilson!
Biography
Ross Andrew Wilson is an Australian singer-songwriter, musician, and producer born November 18, 1947. In addition to playing solo, he is the co-founder and leader of the well-known rock bands Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock and several other former bands. He has also produced music for groups including Skyhooks and Jo Jo Zep & the Falcons. In 2005, he appeared as a judge on a celebrity singing competition TV series. It Takes Two. In 1989, Wilson was admitted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame. In 2006, Wilson was again honored as a member of Daddy Cool. Ross is presently a resident of Port Melbourne, a suburb of Melbourne.
After studying harmony singing with the local Anglican church choir, Wilson became a boy soprano wedding singer. When he was only ten and a half years old, he and his father went to their first rock and roll concert, which featured Buddy Holly and the Crickets, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny O’Keefe. In their Hampton, a suburb of Melbourne house, Wilson’s mother would play classical music on the piano and his father, an amateur jazz player. Injuries from a vehicle accident in 1963 were serious. Wilson started playing the harmonica throughout his rehabilitation, and he would copy from records to refine his playing technique.
