George Thorogood & The Destroyers, celebrating 40 years of ‘Bad To The Bone’ this September, have confirmed a return to Australian shores in October and November. They’ve sold over 15 million records, amassed a collection of iconic singles, performed over 8,000 fierce live gigs, and established themselves as stalwarts of radio, television, and stages throughout the world for more than two generations since 1976.

They’ve been one of the most constant and enthusiastic pioneers of blues-based rock in mainstream culture history. George Thorogood & The Destroyers are still unbeatable in 2022, thanks to their ferocious guitar talents, explosive performance style, and incendiary perspective on blues rarities. Is it still okay to be a jerk? ‘You bet it is!’ replies George. We’ll always be the country’s baddest band. Expect the best from us on this tour because that’s exactly what you’ll receive.’

George Thorogood & The Destroyers Biography

The American blues-rock band George Thorogood or the Destroyers released their self-titled first album in 1977. It features largely renditions of popular blues songs, including a mashup of “House Rent Boogie” by John Lee Hooker and “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer” by Rudy Toombs originally written for Amos Milburn and subsequently recorded by Hooker. Rounder re-released the album in 2015 under the name George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers, with the band’s original lineup intact. It excludes Billy Blough’s bass overdubs, which were added after the initial recording sessions. It also includes Elmore James’ previously unheard single “Goodbye Baby.”

The Australasian-Exclusive souvenir version of George Thorogood & The Destroyers’ The Original will be released to coincide with the tour. A new compilation featuring some of the roots-rock band’s most cherished frontman’s finest compositions has just been released.
