Early Start
- Elena Jane Goulding’s parents separated when she was five years old and she had little contact with her father who was a funeral director afterwards.
- Her mother raised her and her siblings on a council estate, describing their living conditions as “super poor”.
- At nine years old, Goulding began playing clarinet, and at 14 he learned how to play guitar.
- After attending Lady Hawkins’ High School in Kington, Herefordshire, she began writing songs at the age of 15.
- As a student, she studied English, Politics, Drama, and Music at A-level. The first three subjects she passed with “A” grades, but the fourth one failed.
Career Journey
- 2009: Ellie Goulding inked a recording label with Polydor Records and released her debut single, “Under the Sheets”, via the independent label Neon Gold Records. The song soared to the No. 53 rank on the UK Singles Chart after a triumphant appearance on Later… with Jools Holland (performing “Under the Sheets” and “Guns and Horses”) and a tour supporting Little Boots in the UK.
- 2012: Goulding was featured on “Fall into the Sky” from Zedd’s debut album Clarity and on Calvin Harris’s song “I Need Your Love”.
- 2012: The lyric video for “Anything Could Happen” came out comprised of Instagram pictures from the fans. In this year, the music video for Goulding’s second single from Halcyon entitled “Figure 8” was launched where the single was released in the UK digitally and reached to get to the top 40 in the UK, at No. 33.
- 2013: Halcyon Days, a repackaged edition of Halcyon, was released.
- 2014: Goulding launched the music video for her song “Goodness Gracious” on her Vevo channel, which became her sixth single released from Halcyon Days.
- 2015″: The song “Love Me like You Do”, was featured on the soundtrack to the film Fifty Shades of Grey.
- 2016: The song “Still Falling For You” was used for the soundtrack of the film Bridget Jones’s Baby.
- 2018: The single “Close to Me”, that was released in this year was a collaboration with Diplo, Swae Lee and Ellie.
- 2019: Goulding released the single “Sixteen”
- 2020: The new single “Worry About Me” which was a collaboration with Blackbear came from her fourth studio album, Brightest Blue.
