Dean Lewis Biography Australian singer-songwriter Dean Looney, better known by his stage name Dean Lewis, was born on 21 Oct 1987. Lewis is known for his 2016 single "Waves," which was potentially certified 7 Platinum in Australia in 2019. The latter song eventually reached 11 Platinum in Australia and multiple platinum levels worldwide, including double platinum in the United States. His 2018 single "Be Alright" peaked at number one in Australia and was potentially certified platinum four weeks after its release. After viewing an Oasis live DVD in 2005, Lewis was motivated to pursue music. Lewis cites, "They were the coolest people ever, in my opinion.
