Preparing for Back-Friendly Intimacy Before exploring positions, it’s essential to create a supportive environment: Communicate with your partner: Share your needs and concerns to ensure mutual understanding and comfort. Use props: Pillows, cushions, or a rolled-up towel can help provide additional support and alignment. Warm up the muscles: Gentle stretches or a warm bath beforehand can reduce stiffness and increase flexibility. Listen to your body: Avoid movements or positions that cause sharp pain, and focus on what feels good. The Best Sex Positions for Back Pain Relief 1. The Modified Missionary How it works: One partner lies on their back with a pillow under the lower back for support, while the other leans in close from above. Why it’s great: Elevating the hips reduces strain on the lumbar spine and promotes better alignment. 3. The Reclining Butterfly How it works: One partner reclines with knees bent and legs spread slightly, supported by pillows. The other kneels or stands for connection.
