This island was formerly known as Lord Howe’s Island. This irregular crescent-shaped island is situated in the Tasman Sea in between Australia and New Zealand. Describing more precisely, it is about 370 mi (600 km) east of Port Macquarie mainland and about 560 mi (900 km) from Norfolk Island.

History has it that Lord Howe Island was uninhabited before the European discovered and settled on it. The Europeans first spotted the island on the 17th of February 1788. On 13 March 1788, a British party was sent on the island to claim it. A permanent settlement was established in the year 1834 in June, on Lord Howe Island.
